Joy Rutto is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) deeply passionate about helping and serving others. Joy strives to be truly empathetic in her approach to client sessions, working with adolescents and adults. She obtained her LPC license in Kansas in 2016 and is working toward clinical licensure. Joy’s educational background includes a Master of Arts in Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University, a Master of Arts in Sociology from UCM, and a Bachelor of Education from Kenyatta University in Kenya. With a diverse professional history, Joy has honed her skills across various settings. She has served in healthcare, including nursing homes and assisted living facilities, where she provided compassionate care to residents. In child welfare, Joy worked with high-risk families, offering support and advocacy to prevent out-of-home placements for children.
She has also attended family court proceedings to provide assistance and support. In her practice, Joy utilizes principles of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to treat individuals with borderline personality disorder, anxiety, depression, and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) – emphasizing trauma-informed care and crisis management techniques. Through her dedication to seeing her clients move towards their goals, Joy is committed to empowering individuals and families to foster mental wellness.
