Dr. Dan Wise is a licensed psychologist in Kansas and Missouri. He has worked in a variety of settings, and most recently in community mental health centers in Kansas.
Dr. Wise is a fifth-generation Kansan and attended the University of Kansas earning both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees on the Lawrence Campus. His career in mental health began in 1996 working at an AIDS service organization. During that time he returned to graduate school to complete a Master of Social Work degree in 2000. An interest in HIV/AIDS and health policy research led him to complete a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology with a health emphasis from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2008.
In addition to work in community mental health centers, Dr. Wise has worked in a variety of inpatient, and correctional settings. He is experienced in forensic evaluation – evaluation of persons involved with the legal system, especially violence risk assessment, competency to stand trial and assessment of mental capacity. Dr. Wise also completes psychological evaluations for individuals with other concerns such as fitness for duty, and suitability for various health-related procedures. In addition to psychological evaluations, he is interested in the treatment of older adolescents and adults experiencing a variety of mental health problems including depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, sexual and other compulsive behaviors, emotional/anger control, as well as behavioral and emotional difficulties related to health concerns.
Dr. Wise is President of the Kansas Psychological Association, is Member of the American Psychological Association, Missouri Psychological Association, and Kansas Psychological Association. Dr. Wise is also a Clinical Member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abusers.
